Size: Approx. 45 lbs
Status: Available with Foster
Good With Kids: Yes
Good With Cats: Yes *** see note above
Good With Dogs: Yes

A kind volunteer at a Georgia shelter was watching Amber roll in the grass on a sunny day when a shelter worker came to get her to be euthanized so they could make more space for younger dogs. The volunteer called for help and Lost Dog was able to make all the difference for this sweet Southern Belle. She and her former cell mate Mollie are living with a foster who reports they are sweet, shy and gentle dogs who are respecting all house rules including the cat and outdoor potty policy. Amber is good on the leash and loves to go for walks, she’s a hound with a nose for adventure and has dug under the fence for a spin around the neighborhood so she’ll need to be supervised outside.
Amber had some lumps, which turned out to be some sort of carcinoma (cancer). It has not metastasized, and we are having the lumps removed. She is not in any pain, and the vet is not recommending any further treatment at this point. We are hopeful that she still has a few good years left in her. She deserves a great home where she can spend her retirement years.
For more information or to meet Amber, contact her foster at cynthia.j.young@verizon.net.

Size: Approx. 12 lbs
Status: Available w/ foster
Good With Kids: Yes
Good With Cats: Yes *** see note above

Andrew is an absolutely adorable and loving puppy. When he's comfortable and in his "home" environment, he's a very bubbly, happy-go-lucky puppy, and quickly wins everyone over with his personality, hilarious antics, and precious face. He does tend to be a little shy at first when he meets people, so will need someone who will expose him to new things in a loving and patient way. He is quite active and will be a great companion for someone who likes hiking, walking and/or running, but he also LOVES to cuddle and would like nothing more than to spend the daylight hours romping around at your side and spend the night curled up in your lap. He is very smart, responsive, and a quick learner. Andrew will be attending the Seven Corners event this Saturday, but for more information about her, please contact her foster at c_tycie@hotmail.com.

Angel is ready to be the best dog you'll ever have. This girl lived in a home her whole life where she learned housetraining and good manners. She even learned to get along with the cat and will consider making friends with your cat too. Angel's family had to move and she couldn't go with them so she ended up in her shelter without too many options. People tend to pick the cute little puppies, you see, while mature, well-behaved ladies like Angel wait and wait for a chance. Lucky for her, LDCRF came to town and scooped her right up. Won't you scoop her up into your home and heart?

We think the something extra is her excellent disposition. She gets along with people and dogs and is eager to join in all kinds of activities. Bailey the Shepherd

Thank You Emma & Sam (owners of LDCRF dogs, Furby & Elsa) for becoming the Pal for Paws Sponsor of Bailey the Shepherd

Breed: German Shepherd
Sex: Male
Age: Approx. 1 year
Color: White
Size: Approx. 50 pounds
Status: Available with Foster
Good With Kids: Yes
Good With Cats: Not Yet Determined
Good With Dogs: Yes

Bailey loves to play with other dogs. Big dogs, medium dogs, tiny chihuahua dogs, old dogs, teenaged dogs, puppies just learning to walk- Bailey loves them ALL. Chase games are a special favorite of his, but Bailey also loves to sit in the floor and play biting games with other dogs- you know, the kind of games where you see all of the teeth but nobody gets hurt. Bailey loves humans, too, and will bond strongly and quickly to his chosen ones. He keeps his foster mom in eyesight at all times and never strays more than a few feet from her side unless it is to play the aforementioned chase game in the yard. Bailey is beautiful and smart and a joy to behold when he is running and playing. He is also, however, skittish, and will need to go to people with dog experience and a willingness to work with him. New people scare him and too much human activity makes him nervous. He'll need to patiently learn how to deal with these things so that he can be a happy, secure dog. Bailey is looking for a home with canine companionship, a fenced yard and no small children. To find out when and how to meet Bailey, contact his foster at lostdogbarb@gmail.com.

To meet Bailey the Shepherd at an adoption event, please e-mail dogs@lostdogrescue.org or call (703)295-DOGS.

Color: Tan
Size: Approx. 35 pounds
Status: Available with Foster
Good With Kids: Yes
Good With Cats: Not Yet Determined

Beautiful Betty didn't start out being beautiful. In fact, we named her Ugly Betty because she arrived missing all of the fur on her back end and a lot of it from the rest of her body too. She had an untreated thyroid condition and a secondary skin infection to boot. Not only was Betty looking a little shabby, she was miserable too!Fast forward a little, however, and behold our fluffy Beautiful Betty. Her fur has grown back and she is feeling great. Betty has also proven herself to be reliably housetrained, totally friendly with dogs and people and highly motivated by anything that looks like food. Betty has an adorable way of cocking her head to one side when she is puzzled and is, in general, a joy to have around. She is loyal and loving and totally low-maintenance with a strong playful streak intact.

Boggy

Breed: Bichon
Sex: Male
Age: Approx. 10 yrs
Color: White
Size: Approx. 10-12 lbs
Status: Available w/ foster
Good With Kids: Yes
Good With Cats: Not Yet Determined
Good With Dogs: Yes

Boggy, a white small Bischon or a Bischon mix, and his "brother", Buddy black Cockapoo dog, recently lost their home when their owner had to suddenly move to a retirement community and was unable to take them with her. They have been together their whole lives and would like to stay together. Boggy is happy, low mantanance and sweet, but is also shy and a little timid (he does have a hot spot which is being treated daily with medicine and after it has healed he will be properly groomed). He is wary with new people and adjusting slower than is brother to his new environment. He relies on his brother for confidence as his foster doggie brother and sister are much larger than he is and a little intimidate them. Boggy is, of course, housetrained, easy to manage and very good on a leash. He knows how to sit, stay and come, although sometimes that is debatable. He loves to go for walks but is just as content to stay inside and lounge especially under coffee tables and chairs! Boggy is gaining confidence each day but still misses his former Mommy very much. He used to be his former Mommy's favorite and spent a lot of time on her lap. He travels with the "pack" but always seems to be in last place due to his petite stature! He prefers cuddled up next to hisbrother or you, especially late at night, but will occasionally also curl up with one of his step siblings in a dog bed. Boggy just needs somebody very special to bring him out of his shell, give him a lot of attention and give both him and his brother Buddy a chance to live out their golden years together!
For more information, contact his foster at rhinelander1812@verizon.net
To meet Boggy at an adoption event, please e-mail dogs@lostdogrescue.org or call (703)295-DOGS.

Boo Boo and his brother, Yogi, are more cuddly than a couple of teddy bears. Boo Boo is a chubby boy who is very affectionate. He makes friends easily and climbs into any open lap for lots of snuggles. For this happy pooch, every day with you is a picnic, and he wags his tail cheerfully to show how much he enjoys your company. Boo has lost his teeth, so his tongue sticks out like a cute cartoon character. Because of his tiny size, we don't recommend him with young children or dogs larger than his size. Since he has spent his whole life with Yogi, we would like for them to be adopted together. (Click here to see Yogi: Yogi.) Boo Boo is the sweetest little buddy, and he'd love to be yours forever.

After being in foster care for less than a week, she learned "sit" and “bed” and is cratetrained as well, though she is also trustworthy free roaming the house. Chip rides well in the car, making it an easy commute to the dog park, and would be great for an active home with a canine buddy and fenced backyard.

This one comes with wheels!! Some dogs have special collars, some use special harnesses, but our Chiquito has a doggie wheelchair that was made just for him. Chiquito came to us after a disk rupture left him paralyzed in his back end and unable to walk. He had already perfected his "scooting skills" and can zoom around the house like nobody's business using those powerhouse front legs, but now he is truly mobile. Chiquito loves getting into his chair and going for walks outside to explore the world. He goes everywhere as fast as possible and with the most determined (and comical) look on his face you have ever seen. Folks can't help but laugh out loud when Chiquito comes speeding by, so taking him out for a stroll is like spreading sunshine in the world. This little guy has an amazing spirit and is looking for an extremely special home where he will be adored for the character he is and cared for with love and patience. We know that this cute beagle's name is Duke because he told us. Well, it was written on his left hind leg so that's kind of like him telling us. From that, we can guess that he was a hunting dog. (Sometimes they just get numbers painted on them, but this boy got an actual name.) We can also guess that he wasn't the best hunting dog because he ended up at county shelter. He's a very sweet boy, but he's shy. Duke probably isn't used to getting a lot of individual attention or a cozy life, so he's not sure what to make of it. With his affable nature, Duke has all the makings of a great family dog. Duke would love to be yours and have you write his name in your heart forever. He would also love to go tho his new home with his friend King. Duke relies on his King for confidence and the two are happiest when they are together.

Add on that the dog has wobbly back legs. It's enough to make you cry smile! Yes, it's true: Gina is a happy dog and a joy to be around. Goose looks like he was painted in the Impressionist style, but he's just your down-to-earth, tender-hearted beagle boy. This dog simply is incredibly sweet and loving. He has a deferential nature, so he bends his head down when you approach him. As soon as you speak to him or stroke him, Goose melts in contentment. When he looks at you with his grateful puppy-dog eyes, you're going to know that he's the one for you. He was picked up as a stray dog by a county shelter, and his owners were contacted. You gotta love Jacob. Really, you do. This little energizer bunny dog doesn't know that he is little nor does he seem to realize that he only has 3 fully functional legs. Jacob was hit by a car, and one of his rear legs was badly broken. He had surgery to repair it, but it isn't back to 100% capacity and he may always have a limp. Jacob, however, can't be bothered to worry about that. He is too busy monitoring everyone else's activities and making sure he doesn't miss anything! Jacob loves to play with other dogs and enjoys an active lifestyle. Becaue of his injured leg, he should not live with small children or very large dogs.
