Angel is ready to be the best dog you'll ever have. This girl lived in a home her whole life where she learned housetraining and good manners. Angel's family had to move and she couldn't go with them so she ended up in her shelter without too many options. Even after being horribly treated, Phoenix has a sunny outlook on life. When we rescued her, she had a lump on her neck. It turned out to be a metal pellet, probably shot from a pellet gun at her.
Phoenix recently had a litter of kittens. She mothered about half a dozen kittens after own biological offspring were adopted. She just loves other cats and makes friends easily. She has been such a good kitty for Cassandra to be around because Cassandra is shyer than Phoenix and Phoenix really makes Cassandra feel safe.
Phoenix also loves people! She made herself right at home by hunkering down on her former foster's bed the first night. Phoenix savors attention, chilling in the window waiting for her new forever home. She loves to rub up to you, and sit next to you on the couch. Duke is an extremely cute beagle. He has an endearing way of keeping his tongue out in a permanent lick position. We think he knows it makes him look irrestibly cute. Duke has come a long way since he was found in a rural VA shelter with his name painted on his leg. A failed hunter, he was extremely shy and timid. With the help of lots of attention from volunteers and fosters, he has become more open and trusting. His comfort zone is a soft bed or lying by your side. There he will relax and open up. In the world, loud noises and new environments make him insecure. Repetitive activity will teach him that everything is ok and he will do better and better on his leash. He is great in the car and has come along way on being housebroken. He needs an owner who will be patient and continue his growth to total confidence. Max has been well-loved but his owner couldn't take her big boy with her on a recent move and Max ended up homeless. November is the month we set aside in the U.S. to give thanks for our blessings. Most people count their cats among their blessings, and in many cases, senior cats. While there is something very special about raising and caring for a young cat through its senior years, it takes a really special person to intentionally seek out and adopt a senior cat and give him or her a loving, caring home for the remainder of its life. These cats sometimes come with medical conditions requiring regular extra care and expensive medications. They are often not as playful or cute as younger cats and kittens. However, they simply can't be matched for devotion, unconditional love, and warm companionship.
Senior cats are perfect companions for older people who find it difficult to keep up with the antics of kittens. Older cats as housemates help fill in the void of loneliness and provide measurable benefits in lowering blood pressure and stress relief.
