Yes Learn MoreNOT a cheap date! Everyone would love this cat but very very few should even think about adopting him. Sasha came back to the rescue when his owner died. We discovered he had IBD (so needs a daily oral steroid and a limited ingredient/ prescription diet) and uncontrolled diabetes as a result of a condition called acromegaly (a growth on his pituitary gland causing excess growth hormones). He received radiation treatment for the growth and finally his blood sugar is starting to show some improvement. So here he is: this fabulous, fluffy sweetheart who loves to sit beside you, purr quietly while you give him pets, or flop on the floor and roll over so you can give him belly rubs. He does love his belly rubs and he’s a big guy so there’s lots of belly to rub! 😃. He also likes to converse with you but silently: you talk and he opens his mouth in reply and maybe squeaks. We call it “Sasha’s silent scream.“ 🥰. We’re confident he is not one but we have been told Sasha looks like a Norwegian Forest cat. Whatever he is, he is Great! His new owner would need to be prepared to give insulin shots twice a day, monitor his blood sugar and adjust his insulin accordingly, and of course treat his IBD and maintain his special diet. So whoever adopts him needs to have the time and financial resources to care properly for this medically complex, incredibly sweet and loving mellow senior.
